im using 2.6.8-686 kernel witch i think is actuly 2.6.16-686 ok thanks
2.6.8 is 2.6.8. You may need to add hdc=ide-scsi (or whatever your burner is) to enable scsi emulation. Later 2.6 kernels no longer use the ide-scsi layer.

Re: sarge debian 3.2

xcdroast said that it needed scsi emulation turned on. k3b dont even open all the way up it just goes to the point that says surching for cdrom and locks up there . im using 2.6.8-686 kernel witch i think is actuly 2.6.16-686 ok thanks

Re: sarge debian 3.2

k3b "just works" on my system. What kernel are you using? The setup for CDRW drives differs slightly from 2.4 to 2.6.

What errors are you getting from k3b or xcdroast?

Re: sarge debian 3.2

Depending on how old your system is, you might have to use scsi emulation on the cdrw...append hdx=ide-scsi to your boot line in /boot/grub/menu.lst and replace the "x" with whatever the cdrw drive is on your system.

Then try cdrecord -scanbus to see if it can see it...if cdrecord can see it, then xcdroast will...because it uses cdrecord to do the actual writes.
