Old Laptop Wanted.

If you've got an old laptop hanging around, or know someone who does, I'd like it. I don't care if the batteries are so old that it doesn't keep a charge. So long as it has some sort of power adapter, and it works, I'll take it. I can pick it up whenever, wherever it's convenient for you (though it would be a bonus if you were within an hour of center township in Indy).

Anyone looking for cheap laptops, seeing the wanted ads? I came accross this site, it has Laptops starting at $4.00 Just worth it to check it out. The website is called here4deals dot com.

Congrats on the new baby. I don't think the stuff I haven't used for 3-4 years is going to magically disappear anytime soon :) You're welcome to it whenever you get some free time (hah!)

I'm a bastard -- I own it. :) It's just that I've been pretty housebound with the approaching bambino. I must also admit that [url=http://www.uncyclopedia.org]Uncyclopedia[/url] made me an [url=http://www.uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Special:Listadmins]Admin[/url] and the volume of submissions there has swallowed me whole with work. I also have Todd's "VCD" he wanted still, I've brought it to the bootcamp, then I brought it to Dec.'s meeting, and still no Todd? :wink:

It's a WinBook XP (486-DX4 100 - I think that's the correct 486 phrasing :)) - 100MHz 486, dunno how much ram (I'll check when I get home). It's got a 10 Base-T PCMCIA card with a dongle. I don't know how many of the 4 work (two of them don't have hard drives, at least one has a ruined LCD) but you're welcome to any or all of them. I certainly haven't used them recently (when I turned one on a few days ago, it thought it was 2002, which was probably the last time I messed around with it :)

I'll try them out when I get a chance and let you know. I doubt they'll run X but you could at least run console apps. If that's too old/low-tech, let me know.
