Maybe so, but the similarities are striking. See http://www.jmusheneaux.com/index24.htm for some cool screen shots of the various versions of Xerox ALTO/STAR/PARC, Mac OS 1.0-X, Windows 1.0-Longhorn.

I didn't write Moby Dick, but if I read Moby Dick, and it was the only story about a whale I had ever read, and then wrote a book about a whale there most likely would be similarities.
