Laptop display problems Red Hat 7.2 on Compaq 7400

I have installed Redhat 7.2 on a Compaq 7400 laptop. All the text in x is blocky and nearly unreadable. I have tried chaning the default font but it hasn't helped either. I have even tried reinstalling. The S3 mx+ video chip set is correctly detected.

Tom, One possiblility is you dont have the X font server service running. In your setup, make sure xfs is started on bootup. I have not tried 7.2 but 7.1 looks fine on my laptop. Hope this helps. Cam.
