• In place of the analog NTSC standard, a new digital standard was developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee, dubbed ATSC

• Unlike the transition from black and white to color in NTSC, ATSC is an entirely different standard thus different tuners or ATSC to NTSC converters are required.
